How it works

The modern approach to player development

The Secret of our Success

The Youth Futsal League has developed since its inception in 2015. Over the years we have taken into to consideration coaches likes and dislikes and come up with a formula that suits most groassroots coaches who have a busy schedule running thier kids around on weekends.

The league took  feedback from its original leagues, and in 2022 the committe decide to remove thel eague format and replace it with a Cup. This is now know as they Youth Futsal League Cup.

We generally run two Cups s a year which run from February to May(New Year Cup) and September to December(Year EndCup).

Our Cups are run over a three month period and are made up of two round robins tournaments held once a month. Each tournament is comprised of four or five teams which play each other once in 10 or 15 minute matches in each tournament. Points are awarded for each match in traditional fashion with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. The points are then added from both tournaments to determine the top four positions. The top four teams then progress to a finals day in the last month where the first and second positioned teams play for gold and silver, and the third and fourth positioned teams play for bronze.

Teams are all ceded at the start of the Cup according to ability which means that any team can win a league and each Cup cost £135 per team for all both tournaments and the finals. This includes venue and referee costs. Teams that do not make the finals will only be required to pay £90(£45 per tournament).

Futsal is a 5-aside game(4 outfield and 1 goalkeeper) with rolling subs which can come on and off the field as often as they like. Teams are usually made of 6 or 7 players but coaches can bring new players to each tournaments as we know most coaches struggle with player availability on a week by week basis.

We run all Cups in two year age bands which is dependent on which age groups enter the tournament, but where possible we try keep teams in the same age groups were enough teams of similar ability enter the Cup. We cater for players of all ability from division 5 to division 1 and from U8 to U18. Wherever we have 5 teams of the same ability, in a two year age band, we can create a Cup. On average we have around 60 teams that take part in our Cup competitions each season.

Organised referees

Referees are assigned to league so there is no need to spend time trying to source a referee

Central venues

All legaues are run at a central venue

Smaller teams

As games are only 10 or 15 miuntes teams are made up of 6 or 7 players so coaches find it easier to pull a team together.

Competitive leagues

Teams are ceded according to what divisions they play in outdoor football which means games are competitive.

Less time consiming than a tradional league and tournaments

Leagues comprise of tournaments held once a month for three months with each tournament lasting two hours. So no long lentghly seasons or 5 ormore hours at a summer tournament.

Improved dvelopment

The rules of Futsal encourge more skilful play. In a game of Futsal players have to make more decisions about defence, offence and trainsition more often, which improves player development at young ages. Studies have shown on average that a futsal player will touch the ball 6 times more than a player in 11v11.

Different formats of Futsal

The group stages are comprised of 4 or 5 teams which play each other once in a two hour tournament in the group stages. Games are therefore 10 or 15 minute one way matches which allows for fast and qucik games. Finals are 40 minutes matches made of 2*20 min havles which requires a more tatcial emlement to the game.

Our Locations

The Youth Futsal Cups can set up a league anywhere in the UK were we have 4 or 5 suitable teams, a referee and a venue. We generally work with local contacts(parents and coaches) who is eager to help start a Futsal Cup in thier local area. The bullk of our leagues currenlty are run in Buckingshire and surrounding counties.
